Admission Notice
Delhi University may come out with only five cutoff lists this year
The move that is aimed at reducing admissions over and above the number of seats will also allow colleges to impose additional eligibility criteria after their fifth cutoff list. Students, who have applied through online registration, will need to approach individual colleges that can come out with additional cutoff lists if they have vacant seats.
Colleges will also be allowed to impose certain criteria for admissions after the first five cutoff lists. In case more than two students meet the cutoff and criteria imposed, then the class 10 score of the students will be considered for admission.
“To limit over admission, we have decided to only come out with five cutoff lists. Most of the colleges fill their seats in various courses by the fifth list. If there are any seats left in any course after that then the college will come out with its own cutoff list and students will have to apply at the individual college again,” said AK Bhagi, member admission committee.
A 24-member admission committee, including academic, executive council members, principals and university representatives, has recommended a set of rules for admissions this year. The recommendations have been sent to DU vice chancellor Yogesh Tyagi for final approval.
“Colleges will have to get the criteria approved by the university before imposing it on students for admission. Only those students who have filled centralised online admission form will be considered. No fresh registration will be done,” said Nachiketa Singh, member of the committee.
The university is also likely to reduce the concession, given to female students, in the cutoffs to only one percentage point for admission to undergraduate courses.
Earlier, some of the colleges used to offer around 1 to 5 percentage points relaxation in cutoffs for female applicants. Currently, 22 colleges have been allowed to offer the relaxation but only of 1 percentage point for some courses, as per request.
Online registration for around 54,000 undergraduate seats will start from May 28 and end on June 16.
This year, applicants for sports and extra curriculum activity will also have to fill the centralised online form, unlike earlier when they had to apply to individual colleges.
